Augustine Frizzell, the Dallas born actress turned filmmaker, was inspired to make her coming-of-age drama Never Goin' Back by her own 'crazy' teenage years, and the end result proved a hit with critics at the Sundance Film Festival in 2018, promising to propel the high energy comedy drama to cult status.

At its heart, Frizzell's indie project focuses on two teenage girls and best friends (played by Maia Mitchell and Cami Morrone) who ditch their dead end jobs to head to the beach for the week, but find themselves broke and in serious trouble. Persuaded to make the move behind the camera by her acclaimed director husband David Lowery, Never Goin' Back, which marks Frizzell's feature directorial debut, impressed audiences at Sundance with its complex, funny and racy portrayal of two young friends who 'may or may not sleep together'.
